True Cost of DIY Scanning
I used to stare at a mountain of boxes stuffed full of confidential documents that needed to be scanned for record retention purposes. I knew there would be costs, direct and indirect, of scanning those documents in-house. But I also struggled with the decision to out-source my scanning work. So I know where you are coming from because I have been there. But I wish I had taken the time to tabulate the cost of scanning our mountain in-house because this is an estimate of what I would have found:
TRUE COST OF IN-HOUSE SCANNING

Yes, I would have figured out that doing my own scanning was costing me approximately 34¢ per page. With an average of 2500 documents in each of my standard-size boxes, I was indirectly spending about $850 for each box. Yikes!
